Case #4 – Closing Space Between Teeth Before and After

This patient is 68 years old and she always wondered if anything could be done about the space between her front teeth – this is called a diastema.

There are many ways to do the same treatment, and at Arbo Dental Care Bradford we try our best to provide options, because everyone has different goals.

1. Close the space with Invisalign or braces – this would require changing the position of multiple teeth and could provide an overall benefit in stabilizing the bite, and esthetics.
2. Ceramic bonding – high quality ceramic veneers are bonded to the teeth. This would be a great option for stain-resistant, natural-looking teeth.
3. Resin bonding – high quality resin is bonded to teeth with good results the same day.

What’s important to our patient was to achieve a good result in a short time and option 3 made the most sense for her.

This subtle difference with teeth made a major difference for her overall self-confidence. This is what we love about dentistry!

Although the most improvement is with her self-confidence, she also can avoid getting food stuck, her gums are healthier. There are often multiple benefits to closing a diastema between teeth. Function usually follows esthetics.
